First we need to begin to recognize anger and become aware of its presence within us, in all of its forms. What is anger? Where does it come from? What is its impact on our body and mind, on our relationships, on the world? Over time, we come to know anger well, recognizing it in its most obvious and its most subtle forms. Recognizing anger, it turns out, it is the most important step in learning to work with it.
