Our Center Runs on Love and Volunteers!
Our Center is run by the collective energy of our volunteer community. It is built by all of us, for everyone, so that meditation is as accessible as possible to all Long Islanders. There are plenty of opportunities to share your skills and talents to support the Center, no matter how much or how little time you have. Meet others in the community, make new friends and have fun helping others find inner peace.
Volunteer Opportunities
Class Assistants Team Welcome your fellow students, make new folks feel comfortable, and assist the teacher. If you come to a particular class regularly, consider coming just a few minutes early or staying a few minutes afterwards to help out. Talk to Nelly: volunteer@kmcli.org
Clean Team Come help us make the center clean and welcoming. With so many people coming for classes, the center always needs some sweeping and tidying. It’s such a help if you can pick up a broom for five minutes or vacuum the meditation room after a class… become the recycling wrangler, or mop a floor in-between classes… Cleaning can really be tailored to your schedule. Every now & then a bunch of us get together to deep-clean the center followed by a pizza party! Talk to Nelly: volunteer@kmcli.org
Events Team Help plan a party! Spending time with fellow students outside of class builds friendship and community. The Events Team organizes World Peace Cafes, potlucks, and other gatherings for our community. Talk to Nelly: volunteer@kmcli.org
Facilities Team Buildings also need tender loving care. The center always need some fixing. Light bulbs need changing, things need repairing, sometimes walls need painting. Talk to Tom: admin@kmli.org
Marketing & Creative Team Help get the word out! The center develops and updates a range of publicity materials on a regular basis. We would love to add your creative genius to the mix. If you’re into photography, graphic design, web design, print or social media! Talk to Joan: marketing@kmcli.org
No matter how small the task is, each contribution is meaningful and very much appreciated.
